- Pica is a compulsive eating disorder in which people eat non-food items. Dirt, clay, and flaking paint are the most common items eaten. The disorder is more common in children, affecting 10% to 30% of young children ages 1 to 6.
- Difficulty with communication and interaction with other people
- Restricted interests and repetitive behaviours
- Symptoms that affect their ability to function in school, work, and other areas of life.
Most common psychiatric disorders affecting adolescent:
- Depression : Childhood depression can be assessed, diagnosed, and effectively treated with medications and/or psychotherapy. Left untreated, childhood depression is a serious depressive disorder that can lead to suicide.
- Anxiety : Anxiety may present as fear or worry, but can also make children irritable and angry. Anxiety symptoms can also include trouble sleeping, as well as physical symptoms like fatigue, headaches, or stomach-aches. This includes social phobia, generalised anxiety disorder, OCDs, panic disorder, selective mutation.
- Disruptive Behaviour disorder: The unnecessary aggressive, unethical, hostile behaviour in a situation or towards someone usually happens when one feels restricted or dominated by peers or family.
- Substance use disorder: alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, drugs, heroine, morphine etc. that have been use by adolescent in uncontrollable manner just to show off masculinity.
- Gaming disorder: Gaming disorder is defined as a pattern of gaming behaviour (“digital-gaming” or “video-gaming”) characterized by impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences.
